About Our Plant Lists

The plants are listed alphabetically by botanical name (with a few exceptions). Our reasoning for listing them this way are:

• When we call a plant by a common name, we may not all be talking about the same plant.
  • Different areas of the country or different backgrounds can use the same name for different plants.
• In order to compare "apples to apples" we use the botanical name.
  • Don't worry if you can't pronounce it (we will try to include the common name) - just say it with authority and people will think you know what you're talking about.

How We Separate Our Plants

We separate our plants by annuals, perennials and shrubs.

The annuals are divided into the following lists of 'sold as':

• single plants (because they get too large for the 6-pack container)
• climbing vines sold as singles
• annuals sold as 6-packs
• herbs/vegetables

Many plants will have photos available allowing you to see what the plants look like when you are unfamiliar with them.

The plant names followed by an asterisk * are new for us this year.

Annual vs. Perennial

For those who don't know the difference between annual and a perennial, it all lies on the trade-off.

• Annual plants complete their life cycle in one year. Annual plants will give you all summer color but will only last for this year.
• Perennial plants don't have to be replanted every year (the tops die, but the roots remain alive) The trade off is that their bloom time is usually limited to a few weeks each summer.
