Our retail greenhouse was founded in 1996. We sell annual plants, vegetable plants, perennials, and shrubs, as well as a large assortment of potted containers and water plants for ponds and water features. We try to offer the old favorites as well as what is considered to be new and unusual.
Our beginning was small; a single greenhouse assembled from used greenhouse loops and equipment. Today we have grown to our present size of three retail selling houses and six growing houses.
This joint venture between the four of us, (Doug, Marie, Jim and Eileen) came about after we had spent a few years sharing farming equipment and labor. While none of us had any actual green house experience; we did have individual areas of expertise that were needed to make Babe's Blossoms work.
Marie is the head grower with the talent for making the plants and containers look beautiful. Doug is the maintenance, construction, and repair department. Jim with a degree in agronomy is our science department, along with doing construction and repair. Eileen has a flair for marketing, and is responsible for telling the public about our beautiful plants.
Seasonal Operation
Babe's Blossoms is a seasonal greenhouse opening to the public in mid-April.
This means that the work starts in the end of February. We start to heat the greenhouses and prepare them by cleaning and disinfecting them.
In March we begin to get the baby plants from our suppliers. They are then transplanted into the containers in which they will be sold. We also start many of our plants from seed. We assemble and grow all of our hanging baskets (over 1200) and planted containers.
We are available to answer your gardening questions, whether you are an experienced gardener or just a beginner. We want to make your gardening and planting a rewarding experience.
